"And summer's lease hath all too short a date..."

Summer is drawing to a close and I am trying my best to squeeze every moment I can out of it; every last drop.

Our family has had an amazing summer: road trips, family reunion in Boone, Trips to Wilmington twice, water park, movies, a few days at the Outer Banks, etc. But the best part was the lack of schedule, kind of. I realized about two weeks in to our summer break that our kids do much better with some sort of structure to their day. So we made a list of required tasks before they could have device time. It included: 2 chores from the chore list, 30 minutes of reading, help a sibling and at least 30 minutes of a personal project. That was my favorite idea. The personal project could be anything: watercolor, build with Legos, journal, craft, etc. I even made this a rule for myself.

The best part about the summer: I bought a new camera! I bought a Canon mirrorless camera. It is light weight, takes amazing pictures and can even upload the images to my phone through bluetooth. I carried it everywhere this summer. My professional camera is too big and heavy and my iPhone just doesn’t do the job for me. The picture quality is amazing and it does video!

Here’s to Summer 2019, the best one yet!

I may not be the right photographer for you. (Here’show To tell)

1. I am not the right photographer for you if you just want a CD full of digital images.

Don’t get me wrong, you will receive a digital copy of each image you purchase, but the digital copy itself is not the product I am selling. I am providing an image that will last forever. After we are long gone, this image will continue. And I can guarantee it will not last in digital form. Those files become corrupt, technology changes (do you remember Zip drives?) and all those 0’s and 1’s will disappear into the ethos. And honestly, where is the CD from your last session? In a drawer somewhere? That is why I sell prints, matted pieces of art for your home. It is actually scientifically proven that a child’s self-esteem is boosted when they see prints of themselves up in their home. That is the service I am providing.

2. I am not the right photographer for you if you want to meet me for the first time when we show up at a park for our session.

We will talk and meet a couple of times before your shoot to plan everything. Let me go ahead and tell you, we are going to be friends. I am going to ask you questions about you, your family, your likes, your dislikes, Your goals and visions. And then we are going to talk about your wardrobe. If it is a family session we will discuss the wardrobe for the whole family, colors that work and don’t work. If it is a portrait session for you then we will talk about the outfits you will bring to the studio that reflect your personality. We will plan and map out each session. Doing this makes everyone calm and ready. By the time you show up to your session, we will be best friends and hug it out!

3. If you want a photographer to show up at a park and for $50 burn you a CD full of images.

If this is your more your speed, there are plenty of photogs out there on Facebook for you and I wish you well. That is not me. I put a lot of time and effort into a session for my clients. I walk them through the whole process, create a memorable experience and then help them pick out the art that will hang in their homes forever. I also run a business that I would like to keep running in the future. What I do is valuable. What I do lasts. I love finding new clients that value what I do. Together we will create a memorable experience with a lasting keepsake of the fun time we had.

Mama Bear

Rina is in the stage of life where she is driving all over creation so her kids can find and cultivate what they are passionate about. With 3 kids and being a single mom, that is a full time job on its own. Add in her career, finding time for family and friends and just the everyday stresses of life and it is easy to loose yourself.

So when she came into the studio I wanted to focus on her. I wanted to create some images that capture her just as she is, right now. I guided her through every pose. We had a few outfit changes. I wanted to make her feel empowered, strong and seen.

I think we nailed it…

And of course we had to add in her sweet girls…

A mother/daughter session is the perfect way to have an amazing experience. You will come away with images that you love and memories!

Every word {Greensboro Portrait Photographer}

They are writing a book. She has the job of writing the words and he has the assignment to draw. Of course. He is one of the best artist I have every seen. She has a way with words that makes you hang on to everyone one of them.

So of course they are writing a book. But with that comes the book jacket and that infamous author photo.

So they called me needing a picture quick. Mendy told me in no uncertain terms that she would rather be at the dentist than to have her pictures taken. Nick looked like he was ready to walk back to his house than get in front of my camera. I guided them every step of the way. I made them feel calm and relaxed.

They may have gotten great images but more importantly they now have images that their 4 girls will treasure forever. As a permanant reminder of the love their parents still have for each other.

And they wrote a book about it.

The Social Network {Greensboro Portrait Photographer}

I belong to a networking group here in Greensboro and that is how Joan and I met. She came to my home studio for a portrait session. It had been YEARS since she had her portraits taken. It was time for an update.

PS. She was on an episode of Suddenly Susan and was filmed in an elevator with Brooke Shields.
